Not just a jumble of words
Not just a tumble of emotions
Not just anything and everything
Not just a silly rhyme

There's a recipe for poetry
And it goes something like this
Take a pinch of heartbreak
Take a bit of hurt
Take a silly smile
And take an unconditional love

Mix in a long, dark night
Add maybe a drunken fight
An optional break up
Perhaps a small, romantic make up
A dozen long stem roses
A few touching whispers

Maybe a few drops of blood
Some emotions always good
A little bit of angst
A few small high school pranks
Then a heart breaking goodbye

Mix it all together
Let it simmer, let it boil
Let it sit and stew
Let it warp and grow
Let it become what it will
Let it cook until tender

Then let it all out
Out onto the paper
Onto the keyboard
Out onto anything
Let it out of yourself
Out of your heart
The depths of your soul

Mix in anything and everything
A moral and a story
A bit of flow
And a pitch of time
Maybe just maybe a small small rhyme

But never forget before you say done
Take one last look
One last glance adn add a bit of yourself
Something that makes it true
True for your life, true for you
Then you're done
